Vellum59 is a web directory in the trade almanac tradition — an indexed reference to active websites organised across 22 sections of commerce and professional practice. The project takes its cue from printed trade registers and commercial almanacs: a straightforward catalogue of who is operating, under what trade heading, accessible as a single reference.
The directory currently holds 857 entries spread across sections that cover everything from Motor Trade and Building Trades to Physicians & Clinics and Voyages & Travel. Each entry is a working website, submitted by its owner and reviewed for an active web presence and a legible description. The index does not rank or rate sites; it records them.
Submissions are open and free. Any website with an active domain and a clear commercial or professional identity may apply for a listing under the appropriate section. The review process is straightforward: sites that appear active and fit the stated section are added; those that do not meet the basic standard are returned. There is no fee at any stage of the process.
The Vellum59 almanac is updated regularly as new submissions are reviewed. The index does not charge for inclusion, does not sell promoted positions, and does not alter listings based on commercial arrangements. What appears in the almanac is what has been submitted and reviewed — nothing more, nothing less.
The directory is intended as a reference tool, not a portal. Visitors use it to locate active web operations by trade section, to cross-reference businesses in a particular market, or to identify the range of operators working in a given field. The almanac does not replace specialised search but offers a curated, section-based view of the commercial and professional web.
